O Céu da Graça (2012)

Using an element that is common to all places, the sky, with details that characterize Graça such as its old buildings, tram lines and even S. Vicente’s church, the main objective of this project was to describe Graça photographically in an interesting way. The sequence was built following the fog that starts to dissipate, until the last image.

Ilha (2013-14)

Series that revolve around the Azorean island of S. Miguel and its relation with the Sky, as a way to 'escape' from a confined space, an island. This project was part of an FCT that culminated in a collective exhibition at António Arroio and Fábrica de Braço de Prata.

Ilha is a photobook, hand-sewn by my father, with a green cover, that symbolizes the color of S. Miguel (every island from the archipelago has a color attributed).

The images are organized chronologically, from 2005 to 2013 making this, also, a personal project that shows my deep connection with this island, where my family lives.

Clouds (2014)

On this project, I decided to explore the Clouds as elements capable of suggesting something through the abstract shapes they can assume. This shapes can symbolize anything that the viewer wants.
My intention with this sequence was to create a connection between the clouds and an hypothetical music piece, exploring an oneiric view for which both can refer to. A piece can have dense and complex moments, that are represented by the darker skies, but also clear and harmonious sections, that are translated in soft cloud shapes. As we hear/imagine a piece, it can let us travel to an imaginary state and that’s why there are 2 perspectives in the sequence: Ground and aerial views.

On my way home (2023)

This project started as an “escape” for my bachelor’s last year, in Physics. At the time I was already working in music which left me with an overloading schedule and struggle to keep the learning rythm. So, I started to bring my camera with me everyday to register the little things from my usual path (University <-> home) that made me feel free.
With this series I try to create a duality between the inside (confined, limited space), that constrains, and the outside (space without boundaries) but at the same time suggest the idea that they are disconnected.
